Post-Op Lymphatic Massage in Vancouver & Camas, W

Marissa Chacaj-Solis LMT, CPST | Post-Plastic Surgery Recovery Specialist

Post-op recovery is not one-size-fits-all. The care your body needs immediately after plastic surgery is very different from what it needs weeks later as incisions close, swelling shifts, scar tissue forms, and your mobility returns. A provider trained only in general manual lymphatic drainage (MLD) might understand how to move fluid. However, true post-surgical recovery requires deep, specialized knowledge. You need a therapist who knows how to safely work around healing incisions, navigate disrupted lymphatic pathways, manage surgical drains, evaluate compression garments and spot potential problems. At Wellness by Marissa, your sessions are customized to your exact procedure to target bruised tissue, fibrosis, seromas, and scar tissue through every stage of healing. If you are preparing for surgery or are already in recovery, you deserve a professional trained to support the entire healing process.

Specialized Post-Op Care for Your Procedure

I provide stage-appropriate, compassionate recovery care for individuals healing from cosmetic and reconstructive procedures, including:

  • Body Contouring: Liposuction (including 360 lipo), Mommy Makeovers, and Tummy Tucks (Abdominoplasty).
  • Fat Transfer Recovery: Brazilian Butt Lifts (BBL) and facial fat transfers.
  • Breast Surgeries: Breast augmentation, reductions, lifts, and post-mastectomy reconstructive surgeries.
  • Facial Plastic Surgery: Facelifts, neck lifts, and rhinoplasty swelling management.

The Three Phases of Post-Surgical Healing

Phase 1: Acute Healing (0–3 Weeks Post-Op)

  • What your body is doing: The body focuses entirely on protection and inflammation management. Swelling, fluid shifts, and intense skin sensitivity are normal.
  • How I support you: Care is incredibly gentle, light, and supportive. I focus on reducing acute swelling and comforting the nervous system, offering sessions for clients as early as one day post-op.

Phase 2: Subacute Recovery (3–8 Weeks Post-Op)

  • What your body is doing: Swelling gradually changes as deep tissues begin to reorganize. This is the stage where fluid can harden into stubborn fibrosis.
  • How I support you: Support shifts toward improving comfort and mobility. I adapt to your body’s evolving healing response to help soften tissue and prevent severe scar binding.

Phase 3: Remodeling Phase (2–6 Months+ Post-Op)

  • What your body is doing: Tissues continue maturing and settling long after surgery. Scar tissue is still actively forming and adapting.
  • How I support you: Care focuses on advanced tissue adaptation, localized fascia release, improving joint mobility, and ensuring your final surgical results settle beautifully.

Results shown following Endermotherapy treatment:

As healing progressed, Endermotherapy was introduced to gently support tissue mobility and comfort during the remodeling phase of recovery. The treatment helped soften areas of firmness, improve tissue movement beneath the skin, and support a smoother, more uniform appearance as swelling resolved and tissues adapted naturally over time.

Red light therapy

During the remodeling phase of healing, advanced modalities are introduced to support circulation, tissue comfort, and healthy adaptation. Treatment focused on helping areas of residual swelling and firmness gradually soften, allowing tissues to move more freely and appear smoother as recovery progressed.

Lymphatouch

LymphaTouch therapy is used to gently support fluid movement and tissue comfort during recovery. The treatment uses controlled negative pressure to assist areas of swelling and tissue restriction, helping support circulation and encourage natural fluid movement as healing progresses. Care is applied according to the stage of recovery to promote comfort, improve tissue mobility, and support a smoother healing process over time.

How to Prepare for Your First Post-Op Visit

Coming in for a session just days or a day after surgery can feel overwhelming. Here is how to prepare so your visit is smooth, comfortable, and safe:

  • Bring a Trusted Driver: If you are taking prescription pain medication or still feel weak, please have someone drive you to and from your appointment.
  • Wear Loose, Easy Clothing: Choose button-down shirts, loose sweatpants, or oversized clothing that is very easy to take off and put back on without straining your incisions.
  • Bring Extra Pads: It is completely normal for incisions or drain sites to leak fluid after a gentle lymphatic session. Bring an extra pad your surgeon provided.
  • Eat a Light Meal and Hydrate: Drink plenty of water before you arrive. A light snack or small meal keeps your blood sugar stable during your treatment.
  • Know Your Doctor's Restrictions: Every surgeon has a specific protocol. Please share any special instructions, paperwork, or limitations your doctor gave you before we begin.
  • Don't Worry About Your Garments: If taking off or putting on your shapewear feels daunting, please do not stress. I am happy to help you gently remove, redress, and correctly reapply your compression garments during your session to ensure you stay perfectly supported.
